Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer conceded his side can not afford another off night against Istanbul Basaksehir if they are to reach the Champions League last 16.

United won their opening two games against Paris St Germain and RB Leipzig before losing 2-1 to the Turkish champions and Solskjaer said Tuesday's return fixture at Old Trafford offered them the chance to respond and consolidate their position.

United still lead the group on six points, alongside Leipzig, with PSG and Basaksehir three points back.

"Getting to 10 points as quickly as you can was the main point but that defeat was a big blow".

"Well you know when you go away to Turkey that it's going to be a hard game anyway". The goals we conceded, we caused our problems with organisation.

Solskjaer also said that Jesse Lingard would miss the Basaksehir clash because the England global is still self-isolating after he had contact with a COVID-19 positive.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hoping to have Paul Pogba back available after the French midfielder missed Saturday's unconvincing 1-0 win over West Bromwich Albion.

"Apart from that, we have one or two little niggles that we'll have to make a decision on towards the end".
