The Timberwolves will play three preseason games next month, according to a schedule released by the National Basketball Association on Friday.

The Kings will play four games against two Pacific Division foes. The Raptors will begin the regular season with home games at Tampa after the Canadian government ruled that the team would not be able to host opponents in its own arena. The preseason schedule will begin with a five-game slate on December 11 - highlighted by a meeting between the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers and their co-tenants at Staples Center, the LA Clippers.

The Toronto Raptors will play three exhibition games, two of which are against the Hornets in Charlotte with the other coming against the Miami Heat in Tampa.

The NBA said the schedule covering the first half of its 72-game regular season will be released "in the coming days".

Each team will play at least two preseason games, with the National Basketball Association champion Los Angeles Lakers playing four times before the delayed regular season gets underway just before Christmas. The Cavs will then travel to NY for a pair of matchups at Madison Square Garden against the Knicks - Dec. 16 and 18.

Minnesota, Golden State, Oklahoma City, San Antonio, Dallas, Milwaukee, Toronto, Denver, Washington, Utah, Indiana and the Clippers have three preseason games apiece on their schedules.

Brooklyn's preseason opener - and presumably the first time that Kevin Durant, who missed last season while recovering from surgery to fix his Achilles tendon, plays for the Nets - is at home on December 13 against Washington.

The regular season tips off December 22.
