We're expecting the new arrival in Hyundai's crossover lineup to be offered exclusively with front-wheel drive and gasoline power.

Since Hyundai Bayon is primarily intended for Europe, the company chose to name it after the European city of Bayonne in southwestern France.

What segment does the Hyundai Bayon fit in?

Apart from that, there aren't any other details that the Teaser image reveals. In India, the B-segment SUVs are not that famous and Hyundai shows plans to first introduce this vehicle in Europe.

"Hyundai is strongly established in the European SUV market already, in terms of our model range as well as our sales success", said Andreas-Christoph Hofmann, Vice President, Marketing & Product, Hyundai Motor Europe. This new B-segment model will be the entry point to the Hyundai SUV line-up and be placed below the Kona. The boomerang-styled LED signature lighting helps the Bayon stand out from the Kona, but these spy photos suggest otherwise.

We can also see pronounced squarish arches with plastic cladding, a decent glass area, roof rails, shark fin antenna and slightly raked rear section.

Spy shots of a small crossover testing had indicated that this new model was a beefed up i20, and the eventual replacement for the i20 Active on sale in markets overseas. Overall, this feels more like Hyundai i20-based crossover hatchback, especially considering its dimensions.

The spy shots show that the vehicle has front light setup like the Venue, with the LED DRL sitting at the top, while the headlights are situated lower down.

In Europe, the Bayon could be offered with the same powertrain options as the i20. If the Hyundai Bayon ever comes to India it would be launched as an EV.
