Google Search Lets You Try On Makeup Like Lipstick & Eyeshadow

It means that when you search for lipstick or eyeshadow products direct with Google from brands like L'Oreal, MAC Cosmetics, Black Opal and Charlotte Tilbury, you'll get the option to try them on in AR. Besides that, Google is also attempting to make it easier for users to shop for beauty products by helping them visualise makeup looks and virtually try on products.

According to The Verge's latest report, Google announced the latest feature in its new blog post. Consumers can see an AR representation of how a beauty product, such as eyeshadow or lipstick, would look like on their skin tone. Or, virtually try makeup products on your own face, directly in the Google app. You can either try the eyeshadows and lipsticks on photos of models with different skintones or choose the option to try them on yourself by using your phone's camera.

It's been admittedly hard to try out makeup before purchasing in 2020. ModiFace worked with a great deal of brands like Benefit to make comparative AR tools before, and YouTube dispatched an AR Beauty Try-On element a year ago to allow clients to take a stab at makeup while watching instructional exercises. Android users can search using the Google search bar on their device, but iOS users must search using the Google app. The beauty tool launches this week in the USA, bringing benefits to in-store shopping with mobile phones. "It can be hard to understand these things without seeing the products up close", according to Archana Kannan, Google Shopping group product manager. Along with this, Google will show recommendations from beauty, apparel, and home and garden enthusiasts and experts in the form of videos on Google Shopping. The organization told the distribution that they're a continuation of its moves to open up Google Shopping to more retailers.

So if you are in the makeup business, this might be something you want to reach out to your Google representatives about. "At the same time, many still crave that in-store experience, whether it's seeing a product up close, trying it on or getting advice from in-store experts".
