(Pocket-lint) - While the much-rumoured Samsung January launch event is fully expected to focus on the new Samsung Galaxy S21 flagship phone family, we should also be treated to at least one extra announcement. Most importantly, the design is confirmed, aligning with the previous leaks we saw. In addition to active noise cancellation (ANC), the upcoming true wireless earphones from Samsung are expected to come with these advanced features, offering a significant step up in capabilities when compared to Samsung Galaxy Buds Live. As such, the Buds Pro should be somewhere north of that. The earbuds will be available in Phantom Silver, violet and black, as seen in leaked press renders.

Samsung's new earbuds will offer two levels of ANC (high and low) and four levels of Ambient sound mode to let more or less of the outside world seep in to make you more aware of your surroundings.

New to the Galaxy Buds Pro will be the 3D spatial audio mode for videos. The Buds Pro will also be able to toggle Ambient mode automatically if they detect your voice while also lowering your media volume. Similarly, the Galaxy Buds Pro might cost more than the bean-shaped earbuds they'll succeed. The APK teardown suggests that it will need to be a Samsung device running the One UI on Android 11.

Overall the new Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro appear to be a decent update if your headphones are more than 2 years old.
