‘Biggest game yet? Yes, I think so’ - Jose on Brentford

Spurs will be looking to secure a place in the Carabao Cup final when they square off with Brentford at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Tuesday night.

Championship side Brentford have beaten four Premier League clubs to reach their first ever domestic semi-final.

Tottenham are without a major trophy since winning the 2008 League Cup and Mourinho is desperate to end that drought.

Asked at a media conference if it was the biggest game since he took over at Spurs in November 2019, Mourinho responded: "I think so, in the perspective that the club has been chasing silverware for many years".

"Yes, I think so".

"Of course we always have important matches, last season we had a match at Crystal Palace that would give us participation in this season's Europa League or not".

"The next game is always important but of course a semi-final is a chance to get to the final, to get your hands on a trophy in the next round and for this team it would be a very, very big step getting your hands on a trophy", said Solskjaer. I won what was then the Carling Cup in my first season in England in 2004/05, so for me every competition is different and does matter.

"After more than one decade, every competition becomes more important and if we win two matches we win a trophy".

"Of course, [we face] hard opponents but we need two victories and need to look at this semi-final with this ambition, respecting a very, very good team who kicked a few very good Premier League teams out of the competition".

The Spurs manager is demanding dates for the postponed clash against Fulham but wants no repeat of the opening month of the season when his team played on Tuesday and Thursday to squeeze in EFL Cup and Europa League commitments.

Their schedule has not been helped by last week's postponement of their Premier League game with Fulham and Mourinho is adamant his side must not be faced with four games in a week as they did at the start of the season.

"I have studied football for many years and Jose is one of the greatest of all time so it's a privilege to play against his team", he said.

The semi-finals of the Carabao Cup unfold this week as the last four clubs bid for a place in the Wembley final. But I would like to know when we will play against Fulham, refusing totally to be punished by congested, insane fixtures like we were at the beginning of the season.
