(Pocket-lint) - HTC is keeping its phone range quietly ticking over in its homeland, and has launched a new Desire series phone called the HTC Desire 21 Pro 5G.

In terms of optics, the HTC Desire 21 Pro 5G has a quad rear camera setup that includes a 48-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.8 lens, an 8-megapixel sensor with a wide-angle f/2.2 lens, a 2-megapixel macro shooter with an f/2.4 aperture, and a 2-megapixel sensor with an f/2.4 lens. And we assume that the device won't make it to other regions.

Now, apart from the 5G factor, the Desire Pro 21 5G features a 6.7-inch display, which is pretty big for a lower mid-ranger like this one. The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 690 5G SoC and comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage that is expandable via a microSD card.

The phone runs Android 10 out of the box. HTC has equipped the Desire 21 Pr0 5G with a 5,000mAh battery that supports Qualcomm's Quick Charge 4+ tech with a peak wattage of 18W. Yes, there is HTC's custom skin on top as well.

HTC Desire 21 Pro 5G is priced at TWD 11,990 (roughly Rs. 31,300) for the sole 8GB + 128GB variant, which the company says is an early bird price till February 28. According to the official website, the phone will be available in Blue and Purple colors but won't ship until January 21, 2021.

Talking about specs, the device as a whole measures 167.1×78.1×9.4 mm and weighs 205g.

While it is good to see HTC making some efforts to come back into the smartphone market, but it needs to be more aggressive in the current smartphone market situation.
