Sundance adds Coogler-produced 'Judas and the Black Messiah'

Time for another great trailer for Judas and the Black Messiah, the film that tells the story of how the Federal Bureau of Investigation targeted Black Panther leader Fred Hampton. Oscar-bound drama Judas and the Black Messiah.

Daniel Kaluuya plays the Black Panther Party chairman and his "Get Out" co-star Lakeith Stanfield plays Federal Bureau of Investigation informant William O'Neill who agrees to infiltrate the group in the late 1960s. With O'Neal facing years in prison for his latest criminal activity, he's given a lifeline by Special Agent Roy Mitchell (Jesse Plemons: "Breaking Bad", "Fargo") to infiltrate the IL chapter and feed the Federal Bureau of Investigation information about Hampton (Daniel Kaluuya: "Get Out", "Black Panther"). Will he align with the forces of good? Martin Sheen co-stars as J. Edgar Hoover, who headed the Federal Bureau of Investigation during that time.

Director Shaka King ("Newlyweeds", SFF '13) co-wrote the screenplay with Will Berson; they share story credit with Kenny Lucas and Keith Lucas. The full cast includes Daniel Kaluuya, LaKeith Stanfield, Jesse Plemons, Dominique Fishback, Ashton Sanders, Martin Sheen, Algee Smith, Darrell Britt-Gibson, Dominique Thorne, Amari Cheatom, Caleb Eberhardt, and Lil Rel Howery. The title will hit theaters on February 12, when it will also be released on HBO Max streaming.
