You have to hand it to the University of Iowa and their sports programs. But for the first time, they will have a game postponed due to COVID-19.

The men's basketball game between Michigan State and No. 5 Iowa tonight has been postponed due to an abundance of caution surrounding the health and safety of the participants. The team is tested every day for COVID-19.

Spartans coach Tom Izzo, who tested positive for the coronavirus in November, says his son and the freshman from West Africa are roommates. But when a third positive test was recorded on Wednesday, Michigan State canceled its game against Iowa, then its game against IN the following day. Wednesday night, Michigan State announced an additional positive test had been received Wednesday afternoon.

"I'm really disappointed, but it just goes to prove that this can affect anyone", Tom Izzo said in a statement.

Before the postponement, IU was one of only three Big Ten programs, alongside Minnesota and Northwestern, that had not had a game postponed during conference play.
