The number of new COVID-19 infections in Ontario dipped below 1,000 today but just 122 new cases were confirmed in Toronto, suggesting that there is yet another issue with the data Toronto is reporting to the province.

Today's total marks the third time in the past month the number of daily cases has dropped below 1,000 but on all three occassions, it appears the case counts were artificially low due to data reporting errors involving Toronto Public Health.

However, the number of deaths in nursing homes in the second wave of the pandemic has now drawn almost even with the number of deaths in the facilities from the first wave.

Although Toronto has stated that it has found one case of the Brazilian variant, it has yet to make it into the daily provincial public health update.

Ministry of Health representatives say the positivity rate is at 2.2 percent.

There are 299 COVID patients in intensive care units (down from 313) and 211 COVID patients on ventilators (down from 226 yesterday). To date, more than 10.2 million tests have been completed.

The province has reported 41 new hospitalizations since yesterday, and six new admissions of COVID-19 patients to intensive care units.

883 people are now hospitalized with COVID-19 in Ontario, down from 948 reported yesterday.

There are 208 active outbreaks at long-term care homes, 109 at retirement homes and 59 at hospitals.

As of 8:00 p.m. Saturday, 467,626 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered, Health Minister Christine Elliott said in a tweet.

In total, 151,282 people have been fully vaccinated, having received two doses of vaccine, which are to be given a few weeks apart.

The Province has confirmed 41 new cases of the COVID-19 variant that originated in the United Kingdom bringing the total to 275.

The province's seven-day rolling average is now 1,094, compared to 1,428 a week ago.
