Estimated 950 new cases of COVID-19 in Alberta reported Sunday

Hinshaw posted a "preliminary" update Saturday afternoon to Twitter, but did not specify where in the province the outbreak is occurring.

"Please continue to follow the health measures that are in place to slow the spread of COVID-19 and help protect those around you", she wrote.

For the second day in a row, Alberta Health is reporting 1,100 new cases of COVID-19.

12,100 lab tests were completed over a 24 hour period, bringing the provincial positivity rate to 9 per cent.

Hinshaw said hospitalizations remain stable but provided no further specifics as to how many were in hospital or in ICU. On Apr. 1, 292 Albertans were in the hospital with 59 being treated in intensive care units.

No information on deaths related to COVID-19 has been released since Thursday.

As of Thursday, 138,560 people in Alberta had recovered from COVID-19. On Saturday, April 3, 8,000 vaccines were administered in Alberta.
