MI reports 8,413 new COVID-19 cases, 57 more deaths

It said on Friday it had recorded over 225,000 deaths related to COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.

Meanwhile, Covid-19 variants with no known link to worldwide travel have been identified in Ireland, described by public health officials as being "of concern".

Russian Federation reported 8,817 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, including 1,901 in Moscow, pushing the number of infections registered in the country to 4,580,894 since the pandemic began previous year.

Of the new cases, 122 are women and 92 are men.

The ages among the new cases range from two days to 89 years.

Kingston and St Andrew with 54 cases and St Catherine with 44, were the clear leaders among the parishes in terms of the new case count.

One more case was recorded as a coincidental death, increasing the number to 101.

Over the 24-hour period, a total of 1,439 samples were tested, the ministry reported.
