Police say two victims reported in Frederick shooting; suspect is ‘down’

Frederick Police announced on Twitter that they were "responding to an active shooter" emergency on Progress Drive near Monocacy Boulevard.

The department said that there are "two victims and one suspect is down". He could not say whether the shooting was inside or outside.

He then drove to Fort Detrick, about 10 minutes away, where "personnel on the base" fatally shot him, Lando said.

Police said the shooting happened at an address where a concrete business is located and about 4 miles from Fort Detrick.

With two active crime scenes, police have asked for more time before releasing details.

Mr Lando said: "We have two different scenes".

The US Navy has confirmed that an "active shooter incident" at Fort Detrick earlier in the day involved sailors.

"The public is no longer at risk".

Both men who were shot in Frederick were flown by helicopter to the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore and are in critical condition at the facility's Shock Trauma Center, Lando said.

After the shooting, a victim entered a nearby business, Nicolock Paving Stones, and asked for help, a person there said.
