Boston's Lansdowne Street will soon be closed to vehicles during Red Sox games and other large-scale events held at Fenway Park. Similar attacks have happened in Jerusalem, Berlin and Nice recently.

"We still want it to be friendly Fenway", she said.

Boston Police spokesperson Officer Rachel McGuire says they are putting the policy in place "out of the utmost caution and concern for pedestrian safety" and not because of a specific threat.

One logistical problem the police commissioner said was being worked out was what to do with a parking garage on the street across from Fenway Park that is heavily used by hospitals, fans and club-goers.

Boston police have ordered the special barriers, that are heavy enough to stop a truck but could be moved in case of an emergency.

The City of Boston wanted to close the street for security reasons.
