Jose Izquierdo is on the verge of joining Brighton from Club Brugge.

Brighton have broken their transfer record for the third time this summer after agreeing a deal to sign Colombian global Jose Izquierdo from Club Brugge.

The club are in the process of completing a deal for the 25-year-old after the player agreed personal terms with the south coast club.

It will be the second time Brighton have broken their transfer record in a week after they completed the signing of Holland midfielder Davy Propper from PSV for £10million on Monday.

Seagulls boss Chris Hughton described him as "one of the standout players" in Belgium over the past three years. "José has good experience with nearly 250 senior games in both Colombia and Belgium, and has played in the Europa League, Champions League and worldwide football, having made his debut for his national team this summer".

It said Izquierdo has also agreed personal terms with the club, although the deal is subject to a medical and him getting worldwide clearances and a work permit.

The Colombian winger scored a spectacular goal against Leicester City in the Champions League last season.
