Sensex gains 106 points on firm Asian cues

Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 37.75 points or 0.38% at 10,054.70 with 29 components gaining. Both the indices built upon the gains as Sensex went past the psychological mark of 32,000 and by 9.50 am, had gained nearly 150 points.

Retail investors and domestic financial institutions built up positions ahead of release of data sets of IIP for August and inflation for September, to be released tomorrow. Realty, oil and gas and power stocks rose up to 1.06 per cent.

On the BSE, the top performers were Bharti Airtel (up by 4.37%), Reliance (1.82%). The Sensex had gained 332.38 points in the previous three sessions.

Asian shares rose on Wednesday, tracking Wall Street's rally to all-time highs, while the euro hovered near a 10-day peak after Catalonia's leader talked down immediate plans to secede from Spain, easing near-term concerns about euro zone instability. The BSE Sensex opened 100 points up and now trading at 134.80 points up at 32068.64.

Other gainers were Axis Bank, M&M, NTPC and Bajaj Auto.

US Dow Jones Industrial Average had surged 0.31 per cent to close at a fresh record high yesterday.
