This price hike is slated to go down tomorrow, but if you sign up before it goes into effect, you can lock in the current monthly cost for the duration of your subscription.

YouTube TV is completely separate from Google's free online video site, with which it shares a name.

To be fair, the price increase isn't anything drastic, as it'll be going from $35 per month to $40 per month. Like those services, it's widely available on many streaming devices, including Roku, Apple TV, Xbox One, iOS and Android - though not Amazon Fire TV devices.

In the last month, YouTube TV has added channels from the Turner network family, which includes CNN, Cartoon Network, TBS, TNT, and Turner Classic Movies. Sling fashions itself as "a la carte TV", allowing users to pick a base package that costs $20, $25, or $40 per month and then select additional channels and bundles from there.

The new $40 rate will bring the YouTube service up to the same price offered by many of its competitors. Both offer a variety of channels, but fewer options, than their higher-priced competition, The Verge notes.

In case you didn't already know, YouTube TV offers Cloud DVR functionality (no storage limits), which can be streamed to any of your devices.
