The Market Common Charming Charlie is one of more than 250 locations closing after the company filed for bankruptcy, according to news reports.

The four Charming Charlie stores in the St. Louis metro area, including one in Fairview Heights, are expected to close by August 31.

Jewelry and accessories retailer Charming Charlie is closing all 261 of its stores as part of its latest Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing.

This is the second time Charming Charlie has filed for bankruptcy.

Women's apparel and accessories chain Charming Charlie is closing its doors for good.

There are four Charming Charlie stores in SC: a location at Market Common, Columbia, Greenville and Spartanburg, its website states. The company employs more than 3,300 people, including 856 full-time employees, Chief Financial Officer Alvaro E. Bellon said in a court declaration.

"These efforts simply were not sufficient to stabilize" the business and "ensure long-term profitability", according to the filing. The stores are generally located in malls, street-level shops and outlets.

The Houston Chronicle reported that court filings showed Charming Charlie has debts of about $81.8 million and cash on hand of about $6,000.
