Upper winds will prevent the system from becoming a hurricane, but our local winds Saturday will be breezy - around 20-30 miles per hour.

But does Alabama have anything to worry about?

This system will primarily affect coastal areas, according to the National Weather Service in Mobile.

A Tropical Storm Warning has extended from the Mississippi-Alabama border to Yankeetown in Florida, as well as the Grand Isle, Louisiana to the Mouth of the Pearl River, the NHC said.

We will likely see some area with tropical storm force winds, or just below.

The weather system to the west will help nudge the storm northeast, and the most likely location for landfall appears to be in the Florida Panhandle.

If you have plans along the Panhandle be prepared for a wet and windy night, but this system should be passed through by Saturday afternoon and the rest of the weekend is looking good. Current forecasts project that the center of this feature, whether tropical, subtropical or non-tropical in nature, will head toward the Florida Panhandle and make landfall sometime early Saturday morning.

Seas and surf will begin to get rougher on Friday.

The storm is expected to drop 2 to 6 inches of rain over the weekend in the central Gulf Coast, northern and central Florida, and parts of Georgia and the Carolinas, forecasters say.

Forecasters said breezy conditions are going to be possible from after midnight Friday through midday Sunday. Its outer edges earlier brought heavy rain to portions of southern Mexico.

The biggest issue for Louisiana, and even Acadiana, is the possibility for some coastal flooding as tides are going to be running well above normal.

Rain from the Gulf system could affect parts of north Alabama on Saturday. Significant impacts are now not expected in North Escambia beyond rain and breezy conditions.

Showers and thunderstorms associated with a broad area of low pressure located over the Bay of Campeche increased and became a little better organized during Thursday morning.
