'BH90210' Cancelled at Fox - No Season 2 for Meta Revival

The "Beverly Hills, 90210" revival has come to an end.

The 6-episode series, which first debuted on August 7, 2019, had the Brian, Gabrielle, Ian, Jason, Jennie, Shannen and Tori playing themselves in a heightened version of reality inspired by their real lives and relationships, in which they dealt with launching a reboot of the 1990s TV series, Beverly Hills, 90210.

'Profound thanks to and respect for Brian [Austin Green], Gabrielle [Carteris], Ian [Ziering], Jason [Priestley], Jennie [Garth], Shannen [Doherty] and Tori [Spelling], who, along with the entire crew and everyone at FOX and CBS Television Studios, poured their hearts and souls into this truly inventive and nostalgic revival, ' the statement added according to an article by The Hollywood Reporter.

"We are so proud to have reunited in a very special summer event one of the network's legacy series and casts with 90210 fans across the country", the network said in a statement.

Though BH90210 premiered to good ratings, viewership declined with each episode, and the show ultimately posted the biggest ratings drop-off of the summer season. Spelling before the series aired was hoping the revival could lead to multiple seasons. Paul Sciarrotta was the showrunner and exec produced alongside creators Chris Alberghini and Mike Chessler.

It featured several moments of tribute to late "Beverly Hills, 90210" and "Riverdale" star Luke Perry, including a postscript at the end of the premiere which showed a clip from Perry's first appearance as teen heartthrob Dylan McKay and the words, "For our friend, Luke Perry".
