The new service will offer subscribers access to the massive library of Disney-owned movies and television shows, including content from popular franchises that include the Star Wars and Marvel universes.

The service will launch in Canada and the Netherlands (where the platform made its debut in September with a free trial) in tandem with the USA launch on November 12, while Australia and New Zealand will follow a week later on November 19.

Just announced: #DisneyPlus will be available in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Spain (and more to be announced soon) starting on March 31st.

With days left until the service's official launch, Disney and Amazon have struck a deal to carry apps for the Mouse's upcoming Disney Plus streaming service on Amazon's devices. Disney Plus will be available on Fire TV streaming devices, Fire TV Edition smart TVs, and compatible Fire Tablets, the two companies announced Thursday afternoon.

The studio's films have taken $8.3bn (£6.4bn) at box offices worldwide so far this year, and account for about $4 in every $10 spent at North American cinemas.

Disney+ will be hosting Marvel TV series including Loki, starring Tom Hiddleston, and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, starring Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, although they're not expected to hit screens until at least next year and beyond. All you'll have to do is say "Alexa, open Disney Plus", and she'll fire up Disney+ on your Fire TV. "I'm not sure we've actually acknowledged that before".
