Facebook has been constantly pushing ecommerce features on its popular messaging platform WhatsApp. With this update, potential customers can browse the catalogue of products sold by businesses exclusively through an entrepreneur's WhatsApp account. "We gave the founder Andhika Mahardika early access to the catalog feature, and he told us that it makes it easier for customers to learn about their products, know the prices and view the images of what they offer - which is essential for serving their customers better" said the company speaking about the new feature.

With WhatsApp catalogs, merchants on WhatsApp Business will be able to share inventories of their products with WhatsApp users.

" Whether it's a home composting retailer in Bengaluru called Daily Dump, an apparel company in Himachal called HimalayanKraft, a cloth diapers brand in Mumbai called SuperBottoms or the ice cream brand Artinci in Bengaluru, entrepreneurs and small businesses are using the WhatsApp Business app to connect with their customers securely, deepen relationships, increase sales and grow their businesses", he added.

Recently, Facebook has introduced a new company logo with simple bold, capitalised text that will be used across its portfolio of apps.

Catalogs are available now for Android and iOS in the USA, the UK, India, Germany, Indonesia, Brazil and Mexico, and WhatsApp says it intends to roll them out worldwide in the near future.

Many categories of businesses in India are finding the WhatsApp Business app incredibly valuable, Pal said.

"Previously, businesses had to send product photos one at a time and repeatedly provide information now customers can see their full catalogue right within WhatsApp". It's also expected to roll out to other regions soon. Then tap on add product or service and add images of the product you want to sell and add the name and a short description of the product, along with links, SKU codes and save.

There is no option to buy things from these catalogs for now.
