As well as a host of new enemies and building blocks, the new content includes the Master Sword power-up, transforming everyone's favourite Italian plumber into the Hero of Hyrule himself.

Version 2.0 also brings new "Ninji Speedruns" into the mix, which is a new mode that allows you to create courses specifically for the objective of speedruns.

A quartet of Links go on an adventure together in Super Mario Maker 2.

"Transforming into Link using the Master Sword opens up a whole new world of design possibilities for creators".

Out of the blue, Nintendo UK has dropped a new trailer for Super Mario Maker 2's next update, and it's a big one!

Spike: This classic enemy coughs up massive spike balls and launches them at Mario. Link's bombs also allow some walls that would normally be impassable by Mario and friends to be blown up and clear a new path. The new update adds new enemies, like Spike and the long-awaited Pokey, new course blocks like Frozen Coins and P Blocks, a new curated time attack mode, and most importantly, an all-new powerup: the Master Sword. If you're in a snowy environment, the Spike automatically throws snowballs instead.

Lastly, a the update adds a new mode called Ninji Speedrun. The Ninji Ghosts that appear are selected from player data at a similar performance level, so players can gradually improve their performance by running the course alongside other players' Ninji Ghosts.

Fans will be rewarded with stamps that can be redeemed against Mii costume items. In this mode, you'll be able to compete with other players for the fastest completion time in a number of Nintendo-made courses.
