Chelsea are said to be monitoring Brighton centre back Lewis Dunk ahead of a potential move, though they would have to stump up a ridiculous £50m if they want to sign the one-time England global.

Frank Lampard's side are in the market for a defender having seen their transfer ban lifted early, allowing them to trade this month. The defence is said to be a priority, with Chelsea leaking goals at the back at stages this season.

The Times says they have been told to cough up £50million for Dunk.

The Englishman has been a key figure in Brighton's rise, and survival, in the Premier League.

"He's experienced, he's 28-years-old, he's in his prime, it wouldn't be a bad signing".
