Fabregas went on to name-drop the two players he felt were able to help the club towards major European titles, who both went on to win silverware at their domestic rivals after their respective exits.

Now 32 and playing for Monaco, Fabregas turned back the clock to 2011 in a podcast interview with Arseblog.

Having joined the club's academy back in 2003, Fabregas made his first-team debut under Arsene Wenger at 16 and went on to represent the club 303 times over eight seasons. But despite spending nine years at the club - the longest he has stayed in any club - Fabregas lifted only one trophy with Arsenal before moving to Barcelona.

Former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas has revealed a conversation with Jose Mourinho convinced him to reject a move to Manchester United and join Chelsea in 2014.

The 32-year-old midfielder has now revealed that his decision to sign for Chelsea FC was a hard one but he ended up being convinced to sign for the Blues after a meeting with then-Blues boss Mourinho.

"What he told me, the team he wanted to make, what he thought of me, how he wanted me to play, this is what I wanted".

'I used to suffer, I used to spend sleepless nights suffering.

The now 32-year-old, playing for Monaco since his departure from Chelsea, says that he chose to return to Barcelona for many reasons while also openly saying that Robin Van Persie and Samir Nasri were the only players that was "on his level".

Fabregas hit double-digit assists for Arsenal four times, including an absurd 20-assist season in 2007/08 and a 15-goal, 15-assist campaign in 2009/10. And after that you shed a video game, you're in the bus similar to this, ruined, and afterwards you listen to some gamers chuckling, thinking of where they will certainly be heading out later on.

"Especially in the last 2 or 3 years, I really felt Robin and also Samir were the only gamers - it's not an egotistic point to claim, it's just how I really felt during that time - were the gamers that went to my degree psychologically and also practically". We were playing handsome football and I enjoyed that side of things but I was putting pressure on myself to lead, to do everything and at one point I felt kind of lonely.

'Seeing some behaviours from certain players or something like this made me feel I wanted to check something else.

Fabregas now plays for French Ligue 1 side Monaco, who he joined from Chelsea in the January transfer window a year ago after six fruitful seasons at Stamford Bridge.
