An Italian nurse working on the frontline of the coronavirus outbreak allegedly committed suicide after testing positive for COVID-19, the Daily Mail reports.

Confirming her death, the National Federation of Nurses of Italy expressed its "pain and dismay".

This nurse was identified as Daniela Trezzi was reportedly working on the front line of the Coronavirus crisis at a hospital in Lombardy, the worst-affected region of Italy.

As of yesterday, Italy reported 683 new deaths in the coronavirus pandemic, bringing its total to 7,503.

Italy is still suffering greatly from the outbreak of the Corona epidemic, as the virus continues to claim thousands of lives, as well as the daily toll of infections continues to rise significantly, which gave sad and tragic atmosphere to one of the most lovely countries in Europe.

She was working in the intensive care unit while under quarantine after being diagnosed with COVID-19, according to the United Kingdom news site.

Trezzi's death is now under investigation, according to local media reports. The union said, "Each of us chose this profession for good and unfortunately also for evil ..."

Alparone said she was however not "not under surveillance". The reason for killing herself might have been the fear that she might have infected others with the virus, a nursing federation revealed.

'The condition and stress to which our professionals are subjected is under the eyes of all'.

Meanwhile, as per the figures released by an Italian research institute on Tuesday, nearly 5,760 health care workers have been infected by this deadly virus.

The head of the foundation, Nino Cartabellotta, said this "phenomemon" must be "curbed to safeguard those who take care of us".
