Brees announced Thursday that he and his family will commit $5 million towards Louisiana food banks and hospitals, working to help those affected by the coronavirus.

Gov. John Bel Edwards (D) said Tuesday, "It is still impossible to know exactly how long the COVID-19 pandemic will impact Louisiana, but what we do know is that we have more cases per capita than ever state, except NY and Washington".

He named Second Harvest Food Bank, Ochsner Health Systems, Walk-Ons, Jimmy Johns, Small Sliders and Waitr as partners in the endeavor. "We are one Louisiana and we will get through this, together".

Now, he's giving back to Louisiana in another time of trouble.

Brees plans to deliver 10,000 meals a day as part of his contribution to the state's plight. The meals will feed children and families, as well as seniors.

Last week, Saints and New Orleans Pelicans owner Gayle Benson also made a personal donation of $1 million to create the Gayle Benson Community Assistance Fund. And since 2006, he has been named to 12 Pro Bowls and was twice tabbed the NFL Offensive Player of the Year.

When Brees accepted Jesus Christ into his heart on his 17th birthday, he "knew that there was something bigger planned for me than just sports".

For his efforts in supporting New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, he was named Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year in 2010.

On Friday, March 20, Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur M. Blank announced they will give almost $5.4 million in funding for immediate and long-term recovery assistance to organizations providing critical support throughout Georgia and Montana."As a Family Foundation we have always believed that it is the power of many that will make the greatest impact on the most pressing issues in our society", said Arthur M. Blank, Chairman of The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation.

"The priority now is helping our communities get through this tough time", Brees wrote on Instagram.
