"I cannot believe that a rational person can grasp the disaster that is Donald Trump and withhold their support from Biden because of Tara Reade", she added.

A lawyer who represented Tara Reade, the woman who has accused Joe Biden of sexually assaulting her in 1993, announced Friday that Reade is no longer his firm's client.

Wigdor asserted he made the decision earlier in the week.

"Our Firm no longer represents Tara Reade".

"On that point, our view - which is the same view held by the majority of Americans, according to a Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll - has not changed", Wigdor said in a statement sent to reporters, referencing a poll that indicates a majority of voters believe Reade's allegations against Biden are true. He has represented accusers of Harvey Weinstein, and was a vocal supporter of Christine Blasey Ford when she accused Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault.

"Much of what has been written about Ms. Reade is not probative of whether then-Senator Biden sexually assaulted her, but rather is meant to victim-shame and attack her credibility on unrelated and irrelevant matters", he wrote. "To believe Reade, you have to believe that Biden put her up against a wall and penetrated her with his fingers on the spur of the moment in a hallway in the Capitol complex, where she says she was looking for him to give him his gym bag". "We have and will continue to represent survivors regardless of their alleged predator's status or politics". His client was convicted and is now serving a potential life sentence. She said she was thinking about the Virginia Beach shooting massacre and the rise of white supremacist hate crimes. But he offered no specifics on why he and his firm are dropping her. CNN first reported questions about the inconsistencies in her educational background.

A columnist for The Nation shrugged off sexual allegations against Joe Biden in an article published Wednesday, saying the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee would get her vote even "if he boiled babies and ate them".

Reade has been the subject of harsh criticism from former acquaintances in California who said she took advantage of them to extract money, skip rent payments or walk out on other bills.
