And the plan calls for "reduced capacity" for the Universal parks, although it's not clear at this time exactly how reduced attendance will be.

Florida theme parks have started on the road to reopening.

Local officials approved reopening plans for Legoland in Winter Haven and the Universal theme parks in Orlando.

Today, Universal Studios Orlando submitted their reopening plan with a proposed June 5th reopening date to the general public. If he endorses it, the plan will be sent to the state for further approval.

Even though plans have been submitted, Orange County Mayor, Jerry Demings, must sign off on the plans before they can be submitted to Florida Governor, Ron DeSantis.

According to CNN, "all guests will be required to wear face masks and go through temperature screenings to enter the parks". A guest will be denied entry if they have a temperature of 100.4 degrees or greater. These reopening presentations will be presented to the Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force. "Our guests have been very supportive of the process", Sprouls said.

"But I heard from other stores in the state that it takes a couple of days for everyone to realize that we are open".

Universal Orlando and Legoland Florida are planning to re-open as soon as this June - but with social distancing restrictions put in place to ensure the safety of their guests. Universal also says it will reduce capacity but hasn't said by how much.

Ambassadors scattered throughout the park to help encourage sanitization, hand washing, and social distancing measures. People from different groups will not be commingled in seating on rides. In restaurants, contactless ordering, payment and food service will be available through the use of a mobile app.

Guests wearing face masks walk past Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville restaurant at Universal Orlando's CityWalk.

Disney shares rose five percent on the New York Stock Exchange following press reports - denied by the company - that it would announce Thursday when the parks would reopen.

"This carefully-managed reopening comes with stringent new health, safety and hygiene procedures in place", reads a message posted to Universal Orlando Resort's website.
