The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) makes a lot of new discoveries, but finding a "parallel universe where time runs backwards" is not one of them.

The researchers utilized NASA's Antarctic Impulsive Transient Antenna (ANITA) - a radio identifier that is mounted on a balloon, that can perceive interminable ray air showers revealed, dry air above Antarctica, where there is practically no radio upheaval to turn its exposures, according to a report by the Daily Star. The group was funded $35 million to look for and study "ghostly particles that fill the universe", NASA claims. The aforementioned high energy particles were originally thought to be coming down, though scientists have now discovered that isn't the case at all. The ANITA searches for elusive particles named neutrinos which are tiny, high energy particles arriving from space, capable of travelling at the speed of light. Those reports were all attributed to findings made in an April 8 article on New Scientist, titled "We may have spotted a parallel universe going backwards in time". "Explaining this signal requires the existence of a topsy-turvy universe created in the same big bang as our own and existing in parallel with it", said the New Scientist.

The research by UH Mānoa physics professor Peter Gorham of the Department of Physics and Astronomy discovered that some cosmic-ray events observed in Antarctica have characteristics that are in tension with the standard model of particle physics.

"An amazingly odd thing".

According to Ekers, since the standard physics model could not provide a satisfactory explanation, other extreme possibilities must be considered.

"Not everyone was comfortable with the hypothesis", he told New Scientist.

Gorham explained that the Big Bang, which happened almost 14 billion years ago, likely resulted in the formation of two universes - the one that the people of Earth live in and another where everything operates in reverse. Regardless, in this universe, the standard standards and laws of material science operate backward. "In this mirror world, positive is negative, left is right and time runs backwards".

"Whilst parallel universes sound exciting and sexy when discussing the ANITA signal, alternative ideas are still on the table", Lewis added.

Of course, if there are any inhabitants of a possible parallel universe, they'd consider us as the backward ones.

However, some believe the results could just be down to a scientific glitch.
