Allan Makaka dead at 37

Makaka was killed in the wee hours of Satuday, April 23 along Mombasa road near the Southern bypass.

His body was later removed from the damaged vehicle and taken to the Montezuma Funeral Home.

"May God grant his family, friends, teammates and colleagues strength during this trying time. Rest in Peace Champ." a tweet from Shujaa's official social media said.

At the time of his death, he was the Business Manager in charge of HOT 96 FM, owned by Royal Media Services.

"Allan has been instrumental in mentoring members of his team who have gone on to excel in their work".

"We are deeply saddened by the death of former #Kenya7s global player Allan Makaka who passed away today in a tragic road accident".

In 2018 he also featured in Tusker Safari Sevens tournament under former coach Benjamin Ayimba. He embraced all and interacted freely with everyone.

He made a total of 57 appearances on the Sevens World Series, managing 28 tries and is ranked 21st overall amongst Kenya's all-time try scorers on the World Series.

Makaka, who until his death worked at Royal Media Services as the Hot 96 Business Manager, scored most tries for Kenya in the 2004-2005 World Rugby Sevens Series while having the most points at 86 the same year.

RMS Human Resources Director Rose Wanjohi, mourned him as a passionate and dedicated employee.

Our most honest condolences goes out to his family and friends.

"We were school mates at Musingu High School where we played rugby together".

"I was with him in Kenya Sevens team for the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games", said Mwanja adding that Makaka hanged his boots following a knee injury in 2008.
