The Grayson County Health Department reported its second COVID-19 related death Thursday evening.

A total of 535 of those cases were considered active.

As of 5:00 p.m., there have been 82,747 total confirmatory laboratory results received for COVID-19, with 1,705 total cases and 72 deaths.

Grayson County Health Department Director Amanda Ortez says the patient was a 60-year-old man from Howe who passed away at a hospital Thursday morning. Public health takes all the same precautions for probable cases as confirmed cases, so those will now be included on the dashboard. The next highest age group is 30- to 39-year-olds with 6,208 cases, then 50- to 59-year-olds with 5,689 cases, then 20- to 29-year-olds with 5,067 cases.

983 have recovered from the virus.

Delays may be experienced with the reporting of cases and deaths from the local health department to the state health department. Seventy to 79 year-olds make up 2,007 cases, 10-19 year olds account for 1,508 cases and the age group with the fewest cases are children younger than 9-years-old.
