Previously, Verizon's 5G was only used for downloads, while uploading on their network was still handled by 4G LTE.

"Our customers' need for 5G is accelerating". With San Diego live, Verizon will have 35 total markets featuring their 5G network. Other partner companies are working on chipsets and technology that'll help the company's 5G signal penetrate glass. Together, many industry pundits and market analysts had expected these two to strike the flawless balance between coverage and speed, and while "New T-Mobile's" integration efforts are barely getting started, the early tests are considerably more encouraging than anyone could have anticipated. Verizon has also disclosed that 5G ultra-wideband services will initially be deployed across parts of Kensington, Linda Vista, SDCCU Stadium, Mission Valley, and in Banker's Hill on 1st Avenue.

Verizon announced a few bits of 5G news today, including its 35th market in San Diego. "We're building our 5G Ultra Wideband network to develop and enable the 5G innovations that will support the changing behavior of consumers, businesses and entire industries", said Verizon CTO Kyle Malady. This makes it easier to upload high-def videos to social networks, back-up work and school projects to the cloud and play massive multiplayer games.

5G vs 4G download speeds top 10 global carriers
5G Speeds

Initially, customers should see upload speeds on 5G about 30 percent faster than 4G LTE. Verizon is working with these technology companies to extend the company's millimeter wave coverage in public areas, outdoor venues, and, more importantly, inside buildings. T-Mobile launched its nationwide 5G network in December, and just announced further expansion of coverage into the Sa Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento, Calif., and Tampa and Orlando in Florida. "While consumers won't experience those maximum speeds on a daily basis, they do offer an important look at the potential of the carrier's millimeter wave 5G".

15G Ultra Wideband available only in parts of select cities. Headquartered in New York City and with a presence around the world, Verizon generated revenues of $131.9 billion in 2019. News releases are also available through an RSS feed.
