Beguilingly, yesterday, April 7, the moon came closest to the Earth for the entire year when it reached the perigee. An important fact to remember here is that the celestial event will have two key times, the moonrise on Tuesday, April 7, and moonset on the following morning of April 8, 2020. This just so happens to be the Super Pink Moon, also known as the Paschal Full Moon, and in addition to being lovely, it'll also be quite the game-changer.

"This full Moon will be slightly closer to the Earth (about 0.1%) than the March full Moon was, so this will be the "most super" of the full supermoons this year", said NASA. The moon doesn't orbit the Earth in a flawless circle, meaning that a few times a year the perigee coincides with the most dramatic phases of the year - resulting in a super moon.

2020 is a season of full moon!

Supermoons typically appear about six to seven per cent larger and 16 per cent brighter than a normal full moon.

People all over the world watched as the super moon rose over hushed cities, stilled factories and countries in lockdown due to the novel coronavirus. Therefore, it won't be possible to see the Super Pink Moon phenomenon in India during the day time.
