Eliceo Hernandez, 20, was arrested and charged with manslaughter, according to the Hendry County Sheriff's Office.

In the early morning hours of Sunday, June 14, 2020 Hendry County Deputies were dispatched to the area of Apache Circle and Nobles Road in LaBelle. After both Keen and Hernandez stopped, officials said Keen confronted Hernandez and was later shot.

The Osceola County Sheriff's Office (OCSO) also indicated that Keen was killed "while reportedly taking action off-duty on a hit and run crash".

Following the incident, three suspects were taken into custody, including Hernandez.

When authorities arrived at the scene, the officers found Keen dead.

"We are deeply saddened by the death of FWC Officer Keen".

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Hendry County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit, which is leading the investigation into the fatal shooting.

The Florida Highway Patrol Command Officers Association on Sunday described Keen as "a genuine officer who would literally give the shirt to ANYONE who needed it".

"FWC Officer Keen, Julian, or "Man" as many called him graduated from LaBelle High School in 2008 with members of our congregation, was taught by teachers in our church, and was a friend to everyone he met".

Friends and family are mourning the death of Florida wildlife officer Julian Keen Jr.
