What do you think of "Margot Robbie" making a new "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie?

The Hollywood Reporter broke the exclusive story that Disney has tapped Hodson to pen a new female-fronted Pirates of the Caribbean, with Margot Robbie attached to star.

Longtime Pirates producer Jerry Bruckheimer is said to be producing both the Mazin-Elliot title and the Robbie-starring iteration. The concept of the film was presented to the franchise's insider and story writer, Ted Elliott in the month of October a year ago.

The Pirates franchise grossed over $4.5 billion across its five feature films, including sequels 2006's Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, 2007's Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, 2011's Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, and 2017's Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

The Indian Express is now on Telegram. No plot details were provided, but this project is described as "a wholly original story with new characters under the Pirates moniker". Here's hoping she steps into seawater-soaked boots and plays a crass, conniving, absolute drunk of a pirate - less Elizabeth Swann in the first movie and more Barbarossa, please.

But past all-female flops doesn't appear to be stopping Hodson and Robbie from dreaming big, as the two have also started a new initiative called "the Lucky Exports Pitch Program", which seeks to get more women - as well as "female-identifying" - writers hired by studios to write action movies. The Pirates films have so far managed to rake in 650 million dollars worldwide at the box office.
