An ongoing gun and grenade attack at the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) in Karachi has killed at least two civilians and injured three, according to a news report.

The terrorists stormed the main building before a grenade attack outside the gate and opened indiscriminate fire. Police and Rangers' officials arrived at the scene soon after the attack and killed all four attackers, Sindh Rangers said.

Karachi police chief Ghulam Nabi Memon claimed that the attackers, who came in a silver Corolla vehicle were killed at the main gate of PSX.

He lauded the "prompt action" by police and Rangers and directed all law enforcement agencies to be more vigilant.

Director-General Rangers Sindh Major-General Omer Ahmed Bokhari, addressing a press conference in Karachi, said the attackers meant to not only enter the building but also carry out violence and hold people hostage.

PSX Managing Director Farrukh Khan termed the attack "unfortunate" and praised the security forces for their timely response.

"They made their way from our parking area and opened fire on everyone". Weapons and hand grenades have been recovered from the attackers.

Sindh Police surgeon Dr Qarar Ahmed Abbasi confirmed that seven bodies and seven injured, including policemen, have been brought to Karachi's Civil Hospital. Initial reports in the media can sometimes be inaccurate.

Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan told parliament on Tuesday he had no doubt that India was behind an attack on the stock exchange building in the southern city of Karachi.

In a statement, he said Pakistan is determined to root out terrorism from its soil and terrorists will never succeed in their nefarious designs.

Prime Minister Khan condemned the attack and said that the entire nation is proud of the valiant personnel of the security agencies. Pakistan Rangers Sindh have issued a statement confirming that all terrorists involved in the attack have been killed.

"Strongly condemn the attack on PSX aimed at tarnishing our relentless war on terror".
