Amazon is finally catching up with the online co-watching phenomenon, with a new built-in feature called Watch Party, which allows you to sync playback with your nearest and dearest.

Watch Party requires the host and the participants to have Amazon Prime.

Last week we reported that Amazon was working on an Amazon Prime Video UWP app for Windows 10, but that the app was not active yet.

Watch Party supports thousands of streaming titles, including Fleabag and Knives Out. It is also now only available in the U.S. and only works on desktop browsers excluding Apple's Safari.

With Prime Video Channels, Prime members can subscribe to more than 150 premium and specialty channels like HBO, SHOWTIME, STARZ, and Cinemax.

Amazon has announced a new feature that allows you to watch shows and movies with your favorite humans. The host can even line-up movies and shows for binge-watching.

Watch Party is only available for movies and TV shows that are streamable with a Prime subscription, which that means that random Adventure Time episode you bought four years ago is not eligible. (Titles streaming through rent or purchase are unavailable for watch parties.) From there, attendees can watch in tandem and message one another in the service's chat room. The host of the watch party will invite other users and will have full control over the viewing experience.
