Most of the Apex edition Corollas will come with the continuously variable transmission (CVT) now available on the Corolla, but 120 of the 6000 which go into production will come with Toyota's six-speed intelligent Manual Transmission, a system which automatically adjusts engine revs when shifting.

The vehicle also comes with black mirror caps, a throatier catback exhaust system with a 3.5-inch stainless steel tip, and smoked taillights to give it a more menacing look.

It has also carved out a sizeable slice of the hybrid market; more than half of all Toyota Camry sedans sold in Australia so far this year have petrol-electric power. AWD is now a standalone option for the four-cylinder Avalon, some trim features moved around and we have this new Nightshade Edition, pictured in this gallery.

The Japanese automaker will offer only 6,000 Apex Edition models for the 2021 model year, all of which will be based on the Corolla SE and Corolla XSE. As for the model line, Toyota has made a decision to discontinue the base "L" variant.

The Toyota Camry has been Australia's favourite sedan since the death of the Ford Falcon and Holden Commodore - and our best-selling medium-size auto for the past 26 years in a row. The Camry has also been one of the longest-running models in the automobile sector. Available on SE and XSE models, the Apex Edition package has a special body kit that alters the front end, side moldings and other parts.

All combined Apex Edition suspension enhancements increase roll stiffness by 47 percent in the front and 33 percent in the rear.

The sporty update will see the Corolla enjoying a tuned chassis, stiffened suspension, and standard 18-inch gloss black wheels along with optional summer tires. The XSE and SE grades display a bolder reconfigured lower fascia form, which features side vent inserts and a honeycomb-style grille, including new side vent embellishments.

Under the hood, both the Camry and Avalon XSE models are available with either a V6 or hybrid powertrain.

Back in the lineup is Camry TRD. It has a two-tone paint job wherein the black roof is paired with colors like Supersonic Red and Midnight Edge.

All 2021 Camry models now include the Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+, the latest version of the auto brand's revolutionary driver assist technology range, which includes automatic emergency braking. There's also the 3.5-liter V6 capable of 301hp and 362Nm. The Camry "L" has been discontinued altogether.

The performance-tuned Camry TRD, which was launched for 2020, retains its unique, aero-improved configuration.

The 2021 Camry TRD now comes as a standard with rear cross-traffic alert and blind-spot monitor, including heated exterior mirrors. An all-encompassing character line goes down from the instrument panel and crosses the center console waterfall. The production of the 2021 Camry starts in October.

Visually, the only noticeable changes are at the front of the auto.
