Cleveland Reports 6 New COVID-19 Deaths, Total Cases Cross 4,000

Today, the state reported 1,635 new confirmed coronvirus cases, making today the 10th day in a row OH added more than 1,000 new cases to its tally.

A week ago, the Buckeye state saw a new daily record of COVID-19 cases. There have been 69,684 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date, which account for 94% of total cases.

As of Friday, the Department of Health said 3,112 Ohioans have died from the coronavirus with at least 72,280 cases reported statewide.

While Cuyahoga County was moved off the state's watchlist to possibly move from a Level 3 to a Level 4 on the public health alert system, there is still widespread community infection. The state's largest one-day spike in hospitalizations was on May 5 when 166 new hospitalizations were reported.

For the fourth straight day more than 1,000 Ohioans are now hospitalized due to COVID-19. Of those tests, 6.9% were positive, compared to the rolling 7-day average positivity rate, which is 6.3%.
