Haruma Miura Dead - Japanese Movie Star Dies at 30

Fans were shocked at the sudden death of the actor, who also started a career as a singer a year ago.

Miura, originally from Ibaraki Prefecture, entered the profession as a child actor.

The actor then landed the lead role in the live-action adaptation of manga Kimi Ni Todoke.

Japanese film and television star Haruma Miura has passed away at the young age of 30. His manager went to his house after he didn't show up for work and Haruma was rushed to the hospital, but declared dead upon arrival, according to Deadline.

The global entertainment news portal reported the Tokyo Metropolitan Police are investigating the cause of death. The police suspect a possible suicide. What appears to be a suicide note was discovered in his room. Investigative sources and police believe that Miura died by suicide, although the cause of death has not been officially confirmed.

"To fans and people concerned, we apologize for the worry and the inconvenience caused, but as to details we are still confirming and will inform you once again", the statement read. On July 14, he posted a happy picture and spoke about the drama which was scheduled to start in September.

Miura began his career in acting in 1997 in the NHK television drama Agri, and scored his first leading role in 2006 in the film Catch a Wave. In 2005, the band made a decision to go on a hiatus.

He also reportedly finished filming on the movie Brave: Gunjyo Senki in January, which is slated for release in 2021.
