Keanu Reeves is now a comic book writer!

Reeves told the outlet he first tossed the idea to Boom! sometime last year described him as "this character who was born 80,000 years ago, half man, his father's a war god".

For the upcoming 12-issue limited series, the John Wick actor has collaborated with writer Matt Kindt, artist Alessandro Vitti, colourist Bill Crabtree and letterer Clem Robins.

"I have loved comics since I was a young kid and they have been a significant influence on me artistically", said Reeves. He already sounds a lot like a Reeves movie character based on the description too: "a warrior...who has walked a blood-soaked path across the world for present day, the Berzerker does risky jobs for the US government in exchange for the truth about his existence".

The new comic book series is titled BRZRKR which is about an immortal who has lived for several centuries and has now been recruited by the USA government to go on risky top-secret missions. For his service, Berzerker will be granted the truth about his existence, including how to end it. Studios - is a dream come true', he added.

The best collaborations have each partner bringing something unique to the table. Wth BRZRKR we mixed a potent cocktail of all the things that we love: "the tale of an immortal warrior laced with history, conspiracies, spirituality, and a enormous helping of bonkers action and violence - all with intense objective and ultimately a heartbreaking discovery." said Kindt. "And I was right!"

"I'd love to play Berzerker!"

BRZRKR #1 will feature cover art by Rafael Grampá as well as a variants by Vitti and Mark Brooks. "BRZRKR is a visceral, masterly crafted comic book epic".

You may recall just yesterday we discussed the publisher being involved in a new comics imprint with Universal, which itself is primed for adaptation treatment.

Any sort of filmed project has yet to be confirmed, though BRZRKR the comic book sounds like a thrill ride all its own.

In its exclusive preview of BRZRKR, USA Today can't help but note that Berserker looks an very bad lot like Reeves, and the actor didn't even try to hide his enthusiasm when asked if the immortal warrior could become his next action character thanks to Boom!
