Phil Mickelson has always been one of the most exhilarating players to watch on the PGA Tour, as the 50-year-old is a genius around the greens, and is generally willing to try shots other pros wouldn't dream of.

Mickelson was eight over for the week and some 20 strokes back from overnight leader Jon Rahm when he reached the par-four 13h, where his tee shot found the middle of the fairway and left him 78 yards from the flag. His reaction was classic. Watch the shot in the video below.

With the fairways and greens baked by the hot and humid conditions in OH, as well the flag being tucked tight close to the bunker protecting the left-side of the green, Mickelson tried the unthinkable in his attempt to get the ball close to the flag.

Leaving his lengthy putt short of the dance floor, we expected Mickelson to stick with the putter but he surprised us again and flopped a wedge high into the air before tapping in for par.
