Atletico will only sell Partey if his transfer clause is met.

According to the same story, the Gunners may have to pay Partey's £50m contract release clause if Arsenal want to get a deal for the Ghana global over the line.

The Guardian reported earlier this week that Arsenal's second bid for Partey has been rejected, with Atletico unwilling to accept a player-plus-cash deal.

"Hopefully, one day. I want to play there", Partey said. The Ghanaian player still has two years on his current contract.

But the Spanish giants are also struggling financially due to the ongoing pandemic and Goal has been told that they are not now in a position to push ahead with the contract extension at this time.

Some believed that Arsenal would then back away from the Ghanaian, but Atletico still think that the pursuit will continue over the coming weeks.

The Spanish side, Atletico Madrid have rejected an offer from English Premier League side, Arsenal to sign Thomas Partey after the North London side offered Matteo Guendouzi plus £22.5million in a swap deal for the Ghanaian global.

Goal has been told the Gunners have made it known that they will not be paying the release clause, however, and remain hopeful that the Spanish side will soften their stance once they have completed their Champions League campaign next month.

Talks have been held over a deal for the 28-year-old, who started 23 league games for Porto last season.
