- Bad weather has postponed Wednesday's first launch of NASA astronauts from Florida in nine years.

The next attempt will be Saturday at 3:22 p.m.

The Crew Dragon Capsule, as part of its final demonstration, will be ferrying NASA astronauts Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley to the ISS. The U.S. has been paying Russian Federation to fly personnel there since the termination of its shuttle program in 2011.

The launch, which will be attended by President Donald Trump, is crucial for Musk, SpaceX and NASA. NASA's administrator, Jim Bridenstine, told Business Insider that the two astronauts will unite people once again as the entire world will be watching this historic event. Launch America: Mission to Space Live ABC News and the National Geographic Channel have teamed up for two days of coverage for SpaceX's Demo-2 launch in what they've billed as "Launch America: Mission to Space Live", according to "It's now 2020 and we're only on the cusp, but we are here".

A successful flight will mark a milestone in the quest to produce reusable spacecraft that can make space travel more affordable. He and others hoped the public-private partnership would help pave the way for the commercial sector to soon handle more routine missions.

The move by NASA to invest in privately developed spacecraft - a more budget-friendly proposition than spending tens of billions of dollars developing such systems itself, as it had done for decades - was begun under the presidency of George W. Bush for cargo, and then under Barack Obama for human flight.

"NASA looking to do the deep space exploration, get things set so we can go back to the moon", Altman said.

Success might also be a boon for the Sunshine State. Advocacy group Space Florida believed the mission would further encourage private investment in the Space Coast, bringing in more companies, jobs and opportunities.

The astronauts plan to dock with the ISS and remain there for an indeterminate period.

"We're expecting a smooth ride but we're expecting a loud ride", said Behnken, who, like Hurley, also flew in the shuttles twice.

The first launch of Crew Dragon was made in March 2019, then the ship successfully reached the ISS in the unmanned mode and returned to Earth.
