Steve Blackman (Legion, Altered Carbon) reprises his role as showrunner/executive producer for Season 2, which draws from the "Dallas" comic book story arc by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá.

In the action-packed sequence, we see Number Five (Aidan Gallagher) transport himself to Dallas in the 1960s - right before a nuclear war between The U.S. and Russian Federation triggers another apocalypse.

"Soviets Attack U.S., JFK Declares War on Reds", the newspaper prompts.

Even after the siblings arrive to help, with a massive mushroom cloud looming in the distance things aren't looking too good, and Hazel ends up transporting Five to safety.

"Five warned his family (so, so many times) that using his powers to escape from Vanya's 2019 apocalypse was risky".

Ahead of tomorrow's season two release, Netflix has given us our first taste of what to expect for the Hargreeves siblings this time around. Five is the last to land, smack dab in the middle of a nuclear doomsday, which - spoiler alert! - turns out is a result of the group's disruption of the timeline (déjà vu, anyone?).

Much as The Umbrella Academy's Hargreeves siblings would all love to have the chance to simply chill out and live their lives as regular people, they're a bunch of extraordinary, world-famous superheroes who, amongst other things, are prone to bringing about and then narrowly averting the apocalypse. All while being hunted by a trio of ruthless Swedish assassins.

The Umbrella Academy returns to Netflix on July 31.
