The smaller K27 packs a 17.69 kWh battery that provides an estimated 100 miles of range 160 (km/h), with its 20 kW electric motor delivering a top speed of 63 mph (101 km/h).

The Chinese electric vehicle maker acquired Garland-based SC Autosports in 2018 to distribute its EVs in the U.S.

These are the small electric cars K27 and K23, which will be available at prices starting at 12,999 and 22,499 United States dollars, respectively - the equivalent of around 10,940 and 18,930 euros - taking into account the government tax credit. The K23, priced at $22,499 after incentives, is the size of a small SUV. Kandi shares, which opened at $3.88 a share on Wednesday, jumped to $16.51 earlier today. Shares have now settled below $9. That would put the K27 at just under $13,000, although, again, it's unclear if this includes the destination fee.

While the K27 is intended primarily for commuters, the futuristically designed K23 is larger and is also meant to offer a higher load volume.

The larger K23 is fitted with a 41.4 kWh battery, with range listed as an estimated 188 miles (302 km). The K23 starts at just less than $30,000, again, before applying federal incentives.

Both of those vehicles, even without the federal incentives, are less expensive than other EVs sold in the USA, including the Tesla Model 3, Nissan Leaf, Hyundai Ioniq and Kia Kona EV - to name a few.

The target is middle class USA consumers. It's a group that has had few affordable EV choices, Kandi Technologies Chairman Xiaoming Hu said in a statement. Chinese company Kandi is set to bring two models stateside that will become the cheapest electric vehicles on the U.S. market, with both slated for delivery before the year is out.

Kandi will launch the new models at a virtual event on August 18 at 10 a.m., when participants can get a first look at the latest vehicles and compete in a giveaway for a free auto. However, owning the "it" auto often eluded consumers who desired a great EV alongside all the other comforts of modern living.

Kandi America's Model K27, a small EV from the US subsidiary of China's Kandi Technologies Group, is slated to begin limited USA delivery late this year.

The two models clearly hit the affordability standard.
