Those affected range in age from three to 100. As of August 2, no deaths had been reported out of approximately 400 cases across 35 states. Seventeen individuals have been hospitalized.

The majority are in BC (43) and Alberta (56).

"The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued food recall warnings for related products that came to Canada". The Chatham County Manager's Office and Chatham County Emergency Management assisted the distribution on Wednesday along with Union Grove AME Zion Church, Telamon, Chatham County Child Development Center, Communities in Schools of Chatham County, Salvation Army, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Carolina's Wren Family Center, Abundance NC's Neighbor2Neighbor/Vecino-a-Vecino project, Little Blessings Christian Child Care Center, Piedmont Health Service's WIC Office and Chatham Trades. They were shipped to grocery stores in all 50 states and Canada on May 1, and were sold under a variety of brand names.

As of last week, 396 people in 34 states have fallen ill so far, and 59 of them have required hospitalization.

Consumers, restaurants and retailers should not eat, sell or serve red, white, yellow or sweet onions from Thomson International, Inc. or products containing such onions, the FDA said.

"Other onions from the USA may be implicated in this outbreak", the centre said in its release.

The agency announced a voluntary recall on August 1, 2020 that includes red, yellow, white, and sweet onions that are distributed by Thomson International Inc., of Bakersfield California from May 1, 2020 to the present date in both Canada and America.

"If anyone has questions, they should certainly contact the source where they purchased their onions or the local health department, as they usually have updates on the recall", suggests Jeff Nelken, a food safety expert in Woodland Hills, California.

The Lange Law Firm's Jory Lange is one of the United States' leading Salmonella lawyers. Marler Clark is the only law firm in the nation with a practice focused exclusively on foodborne illness litigation.

The CDC said cases of Salmonella Newport began between mid-June and mid-July, with the outbreak identified July 10. The law firm has brought Salmonella lawsuits against such companies as Cargill, ConAgra, Peanut Corporation of America, Sheetz, Taco Bell, Subway and Wal-Mart.
