Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Friday that owners of gyms in NY state should be receiving reopening guidance next week. The city's museums were temporarily shuttered by the pandemic and kept closed even as the state entered Phase 4 in July.

The Governor also announced that New York City museums and other low-risk cultural institutions can reopen starting Monday, August 24th.

Meanwhile, Gov. Cuomo said an announcement on gyms would be coming next week, too.

Venezio says it would be great to be able to open by the end of the month, "I feel as we go into the fall with the difficulty of schools reopening, going into more inclement weather, it's getting darker out earlier, I think people are really going to need this outlet that I think they've been missing for so long".

Thursday was the seventh straight day of NY's positive test rate being under 1%, according to the governor. Four additional deaths from Covid-19 were reported statewide.

Bowling alleys can only operate at 50% capacity and with every other lane open. Rules created to enforce social distancing and regulate the flow of crowds will also be in place. Entrance to the venues must be staggered and face coverings are required.

Cuomo announced that COVID-related hospitalizations in the state have dropped to 523, the lowest number NY has seen since March 17.

He said he will announce news about gym openings on Monday.
