The former world number one carded a four-under 67 to move into a tie for fourth place at four-under par, three shots behind outright leader, Spain's Azahara Munoz.

Tvesa, the only one of the three Indians in the field to make the cut this week, had just one birdie against five bogeys and two doubles in typical Links conditions where straying from the fairway extracted severe punishment.

New Zealand's Lydia Ko (67) and Cheyenne Knight (69) of the USA are a stroke further behind.

"I had a chance on 16 to make birdie and didn't, I had that putt on 17 I thought I made. As long as I do that, that's all I can do".

Muñoz, who won the 2012 Sybase Match Play Championship, is eyeing just her second career LPGA title. The 32-year-old got right back on track during Thursday's opening round, making an eagle on the first hole of the Ladies Scottish Open while playing in the first group.

"I'm enjoying being out there so much".

"I was pretty in control there through 10 holes and then one funky swing on 11 brought everybody back into it and then it was just up and down, a roller coaster those last three holes", a relieved Lewis said. "I just need opportunities to play".

Rio 2016 Olympian Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar meanwhile endured a rough day to finish T-98 and T-104, respectively, to miss the cut in their first event back on the Ladies European Tour.

Ko had a heartbreaking finish of her own last week at the Marathon LPGA Classic, making double bogey on the final hole to lose to Danielle Kang by one.

"Maybe I couldn't make a few more putts today but still made some nice ones, some nice par saves". But you have to talk about what wonderful golf Danielle played.

Lydia Ko got back into title contention at the Ladies Scottish Open by shooting the best third round. Only 18 players of the 70 remaining were under par on Saturday. However, she made amends thereafter. "It's as good as my body has felt in a really long time".

"I think you kind of have to manage that really well, and that will give me a good lesson for next week at the British Open".
